HiFlow Microinverters Installation Guide

Before You Begin

Ensure the following before installation:

  • Mechanical installation may be completed by the user.
  • Electrical wiring and commissioning should be performed by qualified personnel where required by local regulations.
  • The roof or mounting surface must be stable and safe.
  • Turn off all power to the solar system before starting.
  • Inspect the microinverter, cables, and connectors for any damage.


Step 1: Prepare the PV Modules

  1. Lay out your solar panels in the desired configuration on the mounting system.
  2. Make sure the panels are secure and properly aligned.
  3. Ensure there is enough space around each panel for ventilation and cable routing.


Step 2: Mount the HiFlow Microinverters

  1. Align the microinverter’s mounting holes with the racking system under each PV panel.
  2. Secure the microinverter using the provided bolts or screws.
  3. Verify that the microinverter is firmly attached and cannot move.
  4. Ensure the AC output cable is accessible for connection to the system.


Step 3: Connect the DC Cables

  1. Identify the positive (+) and negative (–) DC input connectors on the microinverter.
  2. Connect the MC4 cables from the solar panel to the corresponding DC input connectors on the microinverter. (Tip: Listen for a click sound to ensure a secure connection.)
  3. Route the cables neatly along the racking system to avoid sharp edges and excessive bending.
  4. Use cable ties to secure the cables and maintain a clean installation.


Step 4: Connect the AC Cables

  1. Connect the microinverter AC output cable to the branch AC trunk cable.
  2. Make sure each connector clicks and locks into place to ensure a safe and waterproof connection.
  3. Continue connecting all microinverters along the same AC branch cable.
  4. Use conduit or cable management to protect the AC cables and maintain proper spacing.


Step 5: Grounding

  1. Attach the grounding wire to the grounding lug on the microinverter.
  2. Connect the other end of the grounding wire to the system grounding bus bar.
  3. Ensure all microinverters share a common ground connection for safety and compliance.


Step 6: System Commissioning

  1. Once all DC and AC connections are made, verify that the system is safely connected.
  2. Turn on the AC breaker and the PV DC switch.
  3. Check the microinverters’ LED indicators:
    • Green = Normal operation
    • Red/Orange = Fault or wiring issue (refer to troubleshooting guide)
  4. Monitor the inverter output through the HiFlow monitoring platform or app.


Step 7: Safety and Maintenance Tips

  • Do not open or attempt to repair the microinverter.
  • Keep all cables tidy and avoid any pinching or sharp bends.
  • Inspect connections periodically for wear, corrosion, or damage.
  • In case of any alarm or fault, follow the troubleshooting guide or contact technical support.
