Software & Firmware Update Troubleshooting

Keeping your Hoymiles HiBattery and HiFlow Microinverters up to date ensures optimal performance, improved security, enhanced stability, and access to the latest features. If you experience issues during a software or firmware update, follow the troubleshooting steps below.

 

Before You Start

Before updating your device, make sure that:

  • Your device is powered on and operating normally.

  • The device is connected to a stable internet connection.

  • Your mobile device has sufficient battery power.

  • You are using the latest version of the Hoymiles monitoring app.

  • The device remains powered on throughout the update process.

Important: Do not disconnect the power supply or internet connection while an update is in progress.

 

Issue 1: Unable to Check for Updates

Possible Causes

  • No internet connection

  • Device is offline

  • Monitoring app is outdated

  • Server connection is temporarily unavailable

Solutions

  • Verify that your Wi-Fi network is connected to the internet.

  • Confirm that your Hoymiles device is online in the monitoring app.

  • Update the Hoymiles monitoring app to the latest version.

  • Close and reopen the app, then check for updates again.

  • Wait a few minutes and try again if the server is temporarily busy.


Issue 2: Firmware Update Won't Start

Possible Causes

  • Device communication interrupted

  • Unstable network connection

  • No new firmware is available

Solutions

  • Ensure your device remains connected to the internet.

  • Restart the monitoring app.

  • Refresh the device status.

  • Confirm that a firmware update is available.

  • Try again after a few minutes.

If no update is available, your device may already be running the latest firmware.


Issue 3: Update Progress Stops or Freezes

Possible Causes

  • Slow or unstable internet connection

  • Temporary interruption during download

  • Large firmware package

Solutions

  • Wait several minutes to allow the update to continue.

  • Keep the app open during the update.

  • Do not restart or disconnect the device.

  • Verify that your internet connection remains stable.

If the update does not resume after an extended period, restart the monitoring app and check the device status before attempting another update.


Issue 4: Firmware Update Failed

Possible Causes

  • Network interruption

  • Temporary server issue

  • Device disconnected during the update

Solutions

  • Restart your router if the network is unstable.

  • Confirm that the device is online.

  • Restart the monitoring app.

  • Retry the firmware update.

If multiple update attempts fail, contact Hoymiles Support.


Issue 5: Device Appears Offline After Updating

Possible Causes

  • Device is restarting

  • Network connection has not been restored

  • Temporary communication delay

Solutions

  • Wait several minutes for the device to restart completely.

  • Refresh the monitoring app.

  • Confirm that your internet connection is working properly.

  • Restart the app if necessary.

If the device remains offline, refer to the Connectivity Troubleshooting Guide.


Issue 6: Firmware Version Has Not Changed

Possible Causes

  • Device information has not synchronized.

  • The update has not completed successfully.

  • The app is displaying cached information.

Solutions

  • Refresh the device information.

  • Close and reopen the monitoring app.

  • Log out and log back into your account.

  • Wait several minutes for synchronization.

If the firmware version still does not update, try the installation again or contact Hoymiles Support.


Issue 7: System Performance Changes After Updating

Possible Causes

  • The system is completing initialization.

  • New firmware optimization is still in progress.

Solutions

  • Allow the system time to complete startup.

  • Monitor battery status and power generation.

  • Check for warning messages in the monitoring app.

If abnormal performance continues after 24 hours, contact Hoymiles Support.


Issue 8: Update Interrupted by Power Loss

If the power supply is interrupted during an update:

  • Restore power to the device.

  • Wait for the system to restart automatically.

  • Open the Hoymiles monitoring app and check the device status.

  • If prompted, restart the firmware update.

If the device does not recover or cannot reconnect, contact Hoymiles Support.
