Installing the HiBattery 4020 AC

The HiBattery 4020 AC is designed to retrofit existing residential solar systems. Unlike the 4020 X, it does not connect directly to solar panels. Instead, it integrates through AC coupling with your home's electrical system.
Step 1: Position the Battery
Install the battery on a flat, stable surface close to the desired AC connection point.
Choose a location that is:
- Dry
- Well ventilated
- Protected from direct sunlight
- Easily accessible for maintenance
Step 2: Stack the Expansion Batteries
If you are using expansion batteries, make sure the system is completely powered off and not connected to any cables.
Carefully stack the HiBattery 4020 AC main unit and expansion batteries according to the installation instructions.
Important: The battery is heavy. Use the lifting handles and at least two people when lifting and positioning the system.
Step 3: Connect the On-Grid Cable
Connect one end of the MS Plug-and-Play Cable to the On-Grid Port of the HiBattery 4020 AC. Make sure the connector is fully inserted and securely locked.
For a standard socket installation, connect the other end of the cable to a compatible household socket.
If connecting directly to a distribution box, the installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical regulations.
Step 4: Connect the Off-Grid Output (Optional)
If backup power is required, connect the appropriate loads to the Off-Grid Port according to the installation instructions.
Make sure the connected loads do not exceed the system's rated output power.
Step 5: Install the Smart Meter (Recommended)
Pairing the HiBattery with a smart meter enables intelligent energy management, including:
- Real-time monitoring
- Smart charging schedules
- Export control
- Maximum self-consumption
